A clear hiring brief helps your managers and recruiters assess the same requirements from the start.
Describe the work before the person
Write down the problems the role must solve, the decisions it owns and the people it works with. Distinguish essential experience from preferences that can be discussed.
Ask for evidence
For each key requirement, identify a work example an interviewer could explore. Ask about the context, personal responsibility, actions and outcome. Participation in a project is different from owning its delivery.
Clarify the conditions early
Location, compensation, reporting lines, travel and timing influence candidate interest. Share a consistent brief with everyone involved in interviews.
Use feedback to refine the search
Record why you decide to move a candidate forward or not proceed, using the agreed requirements. If the criteria change, update the brief so later candidates are assessed consistently.
